I first got into DIY’ing due to my frustration with the cost of buying a custom-sized picture frame at a craft store. I had a few large maps and the cost was going to be well over $500. I am not a stickler for high-quality production when it comes to picture frames so I decided to make my own frames. I bought a Skil router and router table to go with it and a mitre box (big mistake) and I was on my way.
I taught myself (or rather YouTube and various other online sources have taught me) all the techniques I use. I definitely do not claim to produce the highest-quality pieces and am usually more interested in producing a functional piece of furniture without breaking the bank. As such, most of my pieces are made of store-bought pine.
I plan to use this site to review all of my projects, large and small. Ones that I’m proud of and others that, well, aren’t very good and to accurately track all of my mistakes and poorly-chosen shortcuts so that I and possibly others can learn from them.
